okay, i’ll admit it

June 27, 2008

this place is boring.

it’s cold, so i refuse to go out. i went for a walk yesterday with adam, at least what he calls a walk. in reality, we went mountain climbing. but did he tell me we were going mountain climbing? nooooo. a walk to warm you up, that’s what he said. “squishy mushy sinky leaf bed steeeeeeeeeeep slopesXmanymany and cold cold cold!”, is what he should have said. so, adam will tell you that yesterday i went for a walk to warm myself up. i tell you i climbed a mountain and i was still cold. and i was in my nice green shoes!!! i thought we would be walking on concrete. (he really never said where we were walking.)

well anyway. we strode/stumbled (guess who did what) upwards and at one point i remarked that it felt rather like a movie where the city girl visits the country and he laughed. we saw a honeybee, and i am convinced more than ever that new zealanders are crazy, (who else would live so close to the south pole?) he reached out to try and pet it. i was walking away already, he said it flew away at the last moment.

he did the same thing when we reached the top; he nudged a cicada into his hand from the asphalt ground and placed it on the still, warmer, presumeably. kiwis are really honestly concerned about the enviroment, you know. yours truly, on the other hand, washed a brown thing down the bathtub today. i think it was a little grasshopper, but you never know. things are different when you don’t have your glasses on.

in any case, we reached the top. the view is pretty nice. i would be tempted to go up again, aye, even braving the walk (i am so brave right), if only it wasn’t so cold. i would sit there, and think.

when we got back, i was so tired i wanted to nap for an hour. so i asked adam to wake me up if i hadn’t gone in for dinner by 1830. but- i woke up at 2000hrs. was somewhat miffed, so i fixed myself mee goreng (one packet down now, pity), and then found that i couldn’t finish it so i threw half of it away. mucked around the world wide web for some time, clearing out my 118 emails-don’t you just love facebook- and then went back to sleep till.. elevenish this morning.

enough of narratives. now for updates. i am very wide awake with so much sleep, and am coughing lesser too. adam isn’t feeling too well, so he’s sleeping, the poor dear. i don’t know where peymon is, so my greatest source of entertainment is missing. peymon’s a 27 year old iranian here on his pHd, and he is hilarious. i hang out with him and adam. kok soon, a malaysian who’s also adam’s roommate, is currently watching some zombie movie so i refuse to join in, although i peep over from time to time. wireless in this hall isn’t free, and connection is apparently really slow, so i won’t pay for it.

okay. at this moment, i’ve just been told that the heater the dep high comm of singapore lent is going to be confiscated. i’m going back to my room. i’m going to cry.
